Visitors to the port this week have been few and far between: Tiger One, MEM, Drive Force and Osprey.
The very sad demise of Tambo Jack occurred during the week, when she “broke up” on the rocks under the whale-watching platform at the lookout.
The swell resulting from heavy southerly winds was the last straw for this catamaran and she was completely destroyed.
Owners Russell and Shauna were very appreciative of assistance from the volunteers at Coastal Patrol and gave a very generous donation to the cause.
A big thank you from all volunteers.
Drive Force was towed from abeam Point Hicks by the Eden Water Police overnight Sunday under very heavy weather conditions arriving safely in Snug Cove at about 8am on Monday.
With these rescues we are constantly reminded of the remoteness of our coastline and the treacherous conditions created by extreme weather at times on this corner of the continent.
Volunteers at the Coastal Patrol station had an enjoyable get together and barbecue on Saturday with representatives from associated services, Eden Water Police and Customs.
A big thank you to Don McTackett from all involved for his three years in the position of divisional commander at Eden.
Glenda Wood has taken up this position and all volunteers will support Glenda in this important role.
Tugboat Annie is in the “dry dock” again - hopefully not for long!
Keep floating
