Eden on top of tourism
31/07/2008 | Eden's tourism industry has dominated yet again in the hotly contested South Coast Tourism Awards. The Eden Visitor Information Centre (VIC), the Seahorse Inn and Cat Balou cruises have muscled their way to the top, all finalists up for prestigious accolades in their elective categories. This year the awards have expanded to include the Wollongong and Illawarra regions down to the Victorian border, making competition even tougher, said Eden VIC's co-ordinator Alison Fantham.

Eden Diver takes a dive
24/07/2008 | Flat batteries, intense winds and huge swell on Monday night caused the sinking of recreational SCUBA and charter boat, the Eden Diver. The boat, moored at Snug Cove, was last seen afloat at 12.30am on Tuesday morning but owner Michael Standen received a 5.30am phone call from an Eden tugboat driver. "They told me my boat was on the bottom," Mr Standen said.
Windblown wombat home safe

But thanks to Emily's kind neighbours in Cosham Close, she is back home safe and sound with her owners, the Helmores. Pat Helmore has cared for Emily since she was young, with the wombat living happily in the family's backyard enclosure.
24/07/2008 | There were a few local faces amongst the sea of half a million pilgrims at Randwick race course for the final mass for World Youth Day 2008. Twelve students from Lumen Christi Catholic College were in attendance and two life savers from Pambula Surf Life Saving Club. Sisters Nicole and Kim Granger volunteered their lifesaving skills in a 10pm to 7am shift and ran into Eden's Roland Hoffman and 12 students from Lumen Christi Catholic College.
Middle East, Eden, Sydney: Pilgrims’ journey to the Pope
24/07/2008 | Last Thursday morning when Father Peter Gannon arrived at the Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Eden for mass he was welcomed by the sound of 108 singing pilgrims. They were armed with musical instruments and smiles and swept up local parishioners in their music and dance. During the mass, which was interpreted by a priest travelling with them, they heard the story of Mary MacKillop, the first Australian candidate for sainthood in the Roman Catholic Church.
Bass Strait expansion means more work for Eden

According to local logistics company Svitzer, oil industry companies were very happy with the amenities and support of the port of Eden.
Highway closed after pedestrian accident
24/07/2008 | A 25-year-old Eden man was hospitalised with head injuries on Monday after being struck by a car on Monday morning. Eden Police say the man walked in front of a Ford Territory on the corner of Irene Crescent and the Princes Highway at about 9am.
