Mrs Bell is grieving the loss of her three children at the hand of her husband, who then took his own life in June this year.
Among this support was the keys to a car from local car dealer Troy Altman as well as $15,000 raised at the auction.
Karen said yesterday she was overwhelmed by the care and support shown to her by the local community since the tragedy.
“I’ve just been blown away by the amount of support I’ve received, and very grateful to everyone at the Eden fundraiser.”
Pericoe’s Karen Bell received a huge surprise at a fundraising auction held in her honour on Sunday when she was presented with the keys to a car from local car dealer Troy Altman.
Mrs Bell is grieving the loss of her three children at the hand of her husband, who then took his own life at Pericoe, in June this year.
A total of 250 items worth about $15,000 were auctioned t the Great Southern Inn, Eden for Mrs Bell by local realtor Glen Brunette.
Organiser Libby Bates was helped by a host of volunteers including caterers Eden Lionesses, staff from Eden Realty, Kathy Baker and 60 registered bidders who collectively raised $10,147.80.
Mr Altman of Ron Doyle Motors and Troy’s Hire Pambula, said he hopes the gift of a car gave Mrs Bell a hand to “get back on track.”
“A day like really shows how the community rallies together in tough times,” he said.
“I have a family myself and I was very touched when approached by Libby (Bates) and Kathy (Baker).”
Mrs Bates expressed great thanks for business and individuals who gave donations.
