TIGERS' PROGRESSIVE DINNER

The Eden Tigers Rugby League Club will hold a progressive dinner on Friday August 15. The cost is $35 per head for a four course meal. Tickets can be booked by calling Karen Miller on 6496 1198 or Kerrie Wilson on 6496 3414.

NETBALL RAFFLE WINNERS

Winners of the South Coast District Netball Association hampers were: 12 years Andrew Thomson, 13 years Di Robinson, 14 years Steve Hodgson, 15 years Bruce Grimmond, 17 years Greg Beasley. The fish tank kindly donated by Bega Pet Shop was won by Jenny Ahkin.

ST JOSEPH'S CAR RAFFLE EXTENDED

Remember to buy your ticket in the St Joseph's School Parents and Friends car raffle to win a new blue Toyota Yaris valued at $16,485 (on show at Fraser Motors). The raffle has been extended to late-November (originally to be drawn this Friday, July 25). Money raised will be used to install a new front fence to keep the children safe. Only 300 tickets will be sold at $100 a ticket, so your chances of winning are very good. You can pay by weekly or fortnightly instalments or buy a ticket jointly with some friends. Call the school on 6496 1682 to arrange a ticket.

THE SAPPHIRE COAST ORCHID CLUB

The Sapphire Coast Orchid Club's regular monthly meeting will be held today at the CWA rooms Bega 7.30pm. Members are reminded to have their display plants benched by 7pm. This month, Tracy Leonard will show the art of flower arranging. This will be a hands-on evening. EDEN PRE-SCHOOL CHRISTMAS RAFFLE

Eden Pre-school Christmas in July raffle will be extended by one week. The raffle will now be drawn on August 1.

EDEN LOG CABIN OPENS IT'S GARDENS AND HISTORIC TRAIL

The official opening of the Eden gardens and historic trail will take place on Saturday, August 2 at 1.30pm at the Log Cabin. The opening will include pottery in the gardens, local art works, poetry reading and free afternoon tea provided by the Lionesses.

BATTLE OF THE SEXES

The Eden Whalers will host a battle of the sexes trivia night on Saturday, August 9 at 8pm. Teams of six males or six females are invited to attend. One intruder of the opposite sex is permitted on each table if they are convincingly cross-dressed. Please register your interest with Nicole Crowe on 6496 1969.

ST JOSPEH’S SCHOOL NEW BUILDING OPENING

All parents, caregivers and friends were warmly invited to join the St Joseph’s Eden school community at 10am Tuesday, August 19. Archbishop Mark Coleridge will bless and officially open the new buildings and refurbished areas at the school on this day, in conjunction with the Mike Kelly, Member for Eden Monaro. Refreshments will be served after the ceremony. All welcome.

MEN'S GROUP

The combined churches men's bible study is on the fourth Saturday of each month at the Uniting Church Hall at 8am. Light breakfast and discussion about thing that Jesus said and the relevance to our lives today.

SUNDAY SOCIAL BOWLS

Sunday Social Bowls will commence once again with all welcome with your names in by 10am starting time 10.30am. Sheets will be available at the Eden Gardens Country Club.

SING AUSTRALIA

Eden Sing Australia meets at the Log Cabin at 7pm every Tuesday.

16/12/2008 | So we now have desperate parents attempting to bribe teachers to get their children into a selective high school. What a sad indictment of our education policies, the holy grail of which is parental choice.
