Eden swings for Gabo Cup

Eden Men's Golf

Eden emerged winners of the annual competition for the Gabo Cup between Eden and Mallacoota played last Saturday at Eden.

After an excellent day's play Eden toped the scoreboard 524 points to 448.

In division one Adrian Hall took the honours with 41 stableford points from Cam Armstrong of Mallacoota with 39 points.

Mick Johnson won division two with 40 points from Mark Davidson 39.

A countback was needed to decide division three and George Barbas on 38 defeated Milton Mizakami.

Balls for nearest the pins went to John Polak on the third, Kevin Green on the third, David Torpey on the 10th and Adrian Hall on the 18th and also the golden shot.

There for two very good eagles on the sixth by D. Fricker and G. Vale.

Balls went to 33 points and the CCR was 37.

The event this Saturday will be a stroke for the monthly medal and the Eden Newsagency trophy.

Dads Army Golf

On Sunday morning of last weekend the troops of Dad's Army Golf played for the Casey Miller trophy, which was also the third round of their championships, over the front nine of the Eden Golf course.

After three rounds the winners of the Dad's Army championships for 2008 are:

A Grade winner: Adrian Hall.

Runner-up: Barry Hosford

A Grade handicap winner: Brian McDonald

B Grade winner: Chris Edwards.

Runner-up: Dale Boyce.

B Grade handicap winner: John Fogden.

The winner of the weekly event and the Casey Miller trophy holder for 2008 was Chris Edwards with 26 net from runner up John Hallinan on 27 net.

The putting was won by Barry Hosford, after a three way count back, with 14 while the nearest the pins went to Corey Stewart on the third and Arkie Piesley on the eighth and the Rabbit Trap was shared by J. Hillier and Trevor Shrimp.

Balls went to 31 net with G. Miller, Arkie, Ron McDonald and Dale Boyce all being successful.

In the players draw J. Pearce and W. Mackay each won a voucher to the Eden business of their choice, Mark McGillivary and Mark Miller collected the chooks and Brian Roberts and Wayne Osborne enjoyed the drinks courtesy of the Eden Gardens Country Club.

Dad's Army would like to thank the Miller Family for their continued support of this great annual trophy in memory of Casey Miller, a regular Dad's Army golfer for many years.

This week the gentlemen will play a stableford event over the front nine.

The start will be from the pro-shop and Trevor and Wayne will be on the board.

Eden Ladies Golf

Twenty people played the third International Spoon on Wednesday June 25.

Hazel Saunders won with 75 nett.

Nearest the pin were Joy Gilmore on the third, Hazel Saunders the eighteenth.

Ros Butt won the putting with ( 29).

Ball winners: Haenig, Taylor, Cameron, Davidson, Ocallaghan and Bingham.

Ros Haenig hit an eagle on the sixth hole, from 110m out.

Using the seven iron, Haenig hit the flag, dropped the ball neatly into the hole.

Saturday, June 28 saw a very good turn out of ladies for a 4BBB Stableford.

Weinners of the 4BBB Stableford on Saturday were H. Saunders and P. Taylor with 44 points.

Runners-up were S. Kelly, L. Crombie with 43 points.

Nearest the pin was H.Saunders on the third and J.Davidson the 18th.

Balls went to Walker, Ventry, Everett, Bingham, Gilmore, Clarke, Hansen, Jasper.

The ladies apologise Win Cameron and Chris Seckold

The division two, club champion was Win Cameron, not Laura Walker.

Win was also the Foursome club champion, division two, with partner Chris Seckold.

The ladies golfers apologise for this.
