Remember 1978?
The year that we used to sit up and watch Love Boat on the box and space invaders had just been released.
Who can forget John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever, while Dire Straits was on top of the music charts with Sultan of Swing.
What memories, what a great time and what about the Tigers of that year.
The club had three teams in the grand final with the John Charlton coached Under 18s, the Pat Robin led Reserve Grade and the Harris Diashawa sponsored first grade team.
The Wayne Charlton side defeated the Cooma stallions 24 to three while the Reserve Grade side knocked over the undefeated Snowy River Bears 15 to four and the Peter Grant led Under 18s went down to the very talented Bega Roosters.
This weekend will see many ex-Tigers arrive in town to celebrate the 30 year reunion of the Tigers Club.
Peter Grant has been in contact with many of the juniors of that year and the word is Johnny Charlton was looking forward to renewing old friendships that were forged all those years ago when he was coach of this talented young team.
The Pat Robin team has many members still in town but Peter Cocks, Wayne Bennett and Cecil Miller will be packing their bags and heading south.
While Warren Stanmore, Peter Kelly, Wayne and John Charlton and Butch Thornton will be in town on Friday after travelling the Princes Highway to attend the reunion weekend.
The Great Southern Inn (Adrian and Claire Sandrey) have been the Tigers' major sponsors for the past six years and have been a huge influence on their recent great success.
Eden legend Glen Switzer will officiate on Saturday night with a special video presentation of some historic footage of that great day in 1978.
Old Eden barber, Peter Furnell, will not be able to attend but has also contributed a video which was expected to be a highlight of the evening with Phooey's special brand of humour surely to entertain.
The club invites all to attend the evening.
Contact Sheldon Wykes at Retravision on 6496 1990 or John Miller on 6496 1198 to give us an idea of numbers.
The reunion would like to present all three teams to the crowd at half time of each of the games.
The club request all supporters to be at the George Bass Memorial Oval on Sunday for what will be a great day in the history of the Tigers club.
Colin Clarke has been organising a very classy reunion shirt and if anybody would like to order on contact Col on 6496 1453 to give him your size.
